According to IFL Science, they suggest that since the cucumber was placed with the cat unaware, this animal will react extremely. And as you do not normally place cucumbers anywhere in the house, the cat may not fully understand the object placed near them.
Cucumbers are typically curvy and colored green. This may alarm the cat as a snake or some kind of predator to harm them.
Just like humans who can have various reactions to a surprise, these cats are naturally baffled with the cucumber.
But if you want to test this to your cat, know that doing this can stress your pet. Or the cat can get injured trying to get away from the cucumber. This can even have an effect on their mental health in the long run.
