Pet Neutering and Spaying: What Are These And What Do You Need To Know

When you welcome a new pet in your home, do you ever think that you want to add more pets in a year or two? Or you just want to take care of that pet without any more additions in the near future?

How sure are you that your female dog or cat will not get pregnant or your male dog or cat will not go out there and impregnate another dog or cat?

If you are a responsible pet owner, most likely you have encountered the term: Pet Neutering or Pet Spaying. But have you really dug deep and understand these? If you have then well and good but if these are still vague to you then read on.

What is Pet Neutering?

Neutering is the term for the castration of male animals. Medically this is called Orchiectomy. The testes are removed from the male cat or dog hence, the animal’s breeding behavior are reduced or eliminated.

What is Pet Spaying?

Spaying is the term for removal of the reproductive organs of the female dog or cat. In medical term this is Ovariohysterectomy where the uterus, fallopian tubes and ovaries are removed. The female cat and dog will not experience heat cycles as well as breeding behavior.

Basically, the Pet Neutering and Spaying are the same and only differs in the gender of the dog or cat. Though in general terms, neutering can apply to both genders while spaying is for females only.

Why Should Every Pet Owner Consider Pet Neutering and Spaying?

The reality of pets today is that there is overpopulation. Even puppies and kittens are put to sleep as they may be unwanted or abandoned. Shelters are threatened of overpopulation and dwindling food supply for pets that are not anymore wanted.

With the sad situation of homeless pets, responsible pet owners can make a difference when opting for pet neutering and spaying. This means that you only take care of pets that you think you can own and afford.

Still not sure about Pet Neutering or Spaying? Talk to your vet and discuss the best options for your pet.

The staff here have always been fantastic and have gone above and beyond anything I’ve needed them to do.

Since I got my first pup, this is where he started and finished all the required vaccines, they are very caring and nice.

And they never failed me every time I left my baby for grooming. They have always been professional and understanding.

They’ve been extraordinary, and I have no desire to change vets at any point. #zacktheshihtzu

New Year’s Celebration Pet Safety: Helpful Reminds You Can Do For Your Pet

Here are you looking forward to a New Year blast, hoping to enjoy the fireworks nearby. But then your dog is howling and messing up your house. So you end up comforting your pet while you hear the fireworks outside. Tsk.

This has been an annual scenario that you do not want to encounter but it always happen every year. And you always miss the best part of the fireworks display. And you always tell yourself that maybe next year it will be better but it never changes.

So you finally decide to do something different this year. You want to get ahold of the situation way before the celebration starts. And here you are preparing for the coming New Year.

Yes, read on.

To have a safe and peaceful New Year’s celebration for you and your pet, here are helpful reminders you should keep in mind.

New Year’s Celebration Pet Safety: For Your Dogs

Confine Your Dog

Don’t bring your dog to any fireworks or firecrackers display. If you think your presence will calm your dog then you are wrong. Confine your dog in one place in your house where he or she cannot go out and where people do not go in and out regularly.

Remember dogs have a powerful sense of hearing and the fireworks will terrify them. Let them be in one room where they feel safe.

Provide A Comfortable Space For Them

Aside from confining your dog in one room, make an effort to provide a comfortable space. Place their bed on the room, add a blanket if you have to so they have a place to burrow themselves in.

Food and water should also be in the room. You can play a calming music on New Year’s eve to distract your dog.

Keep Their Tags On

Just to be sure, keep your dog’s tag on them all the time. If they escape from their safe room, you know you can find them in no time and people will know how to contact you in case they find your dog.

Exercise Your Dog

A few hours before New Year’s eve, exercise your dog. And let them spend all their energy during that time. Yes, tire them. Let your dog pee and poo an hour before the New Year festivities begin. So later they will just want to sleep than mind the noise outside.

New Year’s Celebration Pet Safety: For Your Cats

How about the cats? What should you do to prepare your cats during the New Year’s celebration?

Just keep your cats indoors on New Year’s eve. Cats can find their own comfortable hiding place while the noise is deafening outside. Make sure your cat’s tag is in place in case it may escape the house and went somewhere else.

Now you are ready for the festivities on New Year’s. Celebrate and welcome another year with your pet!

If you have more questions, you can always call your vet and ask about treatment options for managing noise phobias of your pets if any.

Enjoy peace of mind,

Makati Cat & Dog Hospital is my “go to” place for my furbaby Hero because they have different pet services plus the staff are friendly and accomodating.

As we all know, Shih Tzus are very sensitive and my Hero is one of them. I took Hero here 3 years ago when he got really sick & they saved my baby! Special thanks to Dr. Padilla! Thank you Doc!

After that, this is where I take Hero for his regular vaccine & grooming

One thing I love about Makati Cat & Dog Hospital is their pet boarding. During my vacations, This is where Hero stays. Aside from their pet boarding fee which is very affordable, your furbaby is safe and well taken care of. Feeling ko nga nakukulitan na sila sakin kakatawag ko para lang icheck si Hero haha!

Top 3 Practical Reasons Why You Should Have Pet Grooming in A Pet Hospital – Part 3

Have you read my last 2 posts on pet Grooming?

If not you can check them here: Part 1 Part 2

I answered the #1 Question asked on Pet Grooming.

Did you know that most pet owners like you ask the same question?

I also shared a secret information that most pet clinics don’t want you to know. If you missed my emails, you must scroll down below.

Now on to our last valuable tip on Pet Grooming …

Is It Really Safe To Have Your Pet Grooming Done in A Pet Hospital?

Pet owners, like you, may be worried over the risk of being exposed to sickness when bringing their pets in a pet hospital.

But let me point out ONE VERY IMPORTANT FACTOR that most pet owners miss:

Hospitals have very rigid standards in keeping our place clean to minimize contamination. Pet Hospitals, like us, take extra precaution more than an ordinary clinic or any grooming facility.

In Makati Dog and Cat Hospital, we have very strict procedures to minimize contamination inside the hospital.

We are taking this to the next level by having a separate area for our premier pet grooming.

When you try our Premium Pet Grooming Service, you’ll see that it is done in a special area, just several meters from our main hospital facility.

Again, the same level of cleanliness standard is also in place to keep it virus-free.

Now, for the summary.

Why You Should Have Your Pet Grooming Done in A Pet Hospital

More than having a trained pet groomer, you will feel secure having our licensed Vet nearby checking on your pet while having him groomed.

Also, you’ll enjoy convenience! When you go to us for pet grooming, you can have your pet’s vaccination, deworming or regular anti-fleas and ticks treatment – all in just ONE VISIT.

Lastly, you’ll feel safe – Makati Dog and Cat Hospital is very strict in cleanliness, avoidance of contamination is our main concern. Hence, our premier pet grooming is done in a separate area within our pet hospital.

There you have it!

Remember: Once a week is the preferred pet grooming schedule, most especially if you sleep with your dogs or members of your family hug them often.

If you want to feel safe and secure, have your pet grooming in a Pet Hospital!

I hope to see you and your pet soon!

… And also, when you visit us for pet grooming, pls. tell Ms. Mylez that you read my emails [wink! wink!]
